This is one of our favorite little gadgets - and one you never knew you needed until you get one! The Greenlee GT11 Pocket Voltage Detector gives you the ability to check whether or not power is coming to a given circuit or outlet. For example, if you're about to install a dimmer switch or light fixture, and you've shut off the power from the circuit breaker but still need to make sure there is no current coming to the outlet. You use what's known as an electrical tester to check the current. This one is unique because it's a "non-contact" voltage detector, which means that you merely need to place the detector within close proximity of the wires or circuit in question (a few inches), and it will pick up whether or not there is power there! Specifically, the Greenlee GT11 non-contact voltage detector can test for AC voltage indicating capabilities up to 1000V. It's also the first tester to attain a UL safety rating of category IV. Category IV means you can use the tester in nearly all types of electrical environments. The GT-11 is also designed for comfort, since it has a cushioned gripping area and its durable design ensures that it will withstand the most severe environments. Unlike most other testers on the market, the GT-11 also has a true ON/OFF function. With a simple twist of the cap, the tester is activated and ready to use. This is truly the one tester that everyone should have in their tool box!
