Great smelling paint!

Here's a great tip for the next time you paint, add 2-3 capfuls of vanilla per gallon of paint. It will make your room smell more like your baking cookies than painting!

I thought I was the person who thought that up! No I'm just kidding. I've been adding vanilla to my paint for years. I prefer to add 4-5 capfuls so that you can really smell it though.

Before I try this - do you use regular vanilla extract or vanilla syrup? And, it doesn't damage the paint in anyway? Just need clarification...thanks!

Does it have to be vanilla, or could I use orange flavoring? (or lemon, or . . . )

It doesn't have to be vanilla...

No, you're not relegated to vanilla. You can use lemon extract, orange extract, even almond extract. But again, don't put more than a teaspoon or two per gallon of paint otherwise you can potentially alter the paint's chemical make up.
