Ok - I have a 1923 house. Somewhere along the line the back porch was enclosed and divided (although believe it or not the old porch railing is still in the wall). One side is a small bathroom and the other side I am going to convert into a laundry room/pantry. It is also the room that contains the door from the kitchen and the back door to the deck. The porch is over what used to be and old wine cellar. The flooring is your typical wood porch floor. It slants downward toward the outside and I would like to level it up as much as possible in order to accommodate my washer/dryer. I can only go 1 to 1-1/2" before I hit the door jamb going outside - I cannot raise the door due to height restrictions on that side of the room. What would be the absolute easiest way to level the porch floor by 1 to 1-1/2 inches? And if anyone can give advice on insulation for underneath the floor I would appreciate that also. Would insulation board work rather than fiberglass? Thanks!!!
