I found out yesterday that the original linoleum in my kitchen was installed using an asbestos mastic. During my 8 years in the house, I've put down 2 separate layers of vinyl tile over the old linoleum. I was told by an environmental company that I can use DuraRock, similar to sheetrock, over the linoleum, after I pull up the 2 layers of tile. Just screw the DuraRock onto the subfloor and I've then encapsulated the asbestos & can put in a new floor. The asbestos mastic is not exposed, except for one very small area about 2" square. Has anyone used DuraRock for this purpose? Or is there a better alternative for me?
