We have an old manufactured home from the 1970's that we cannot paint without tons of work and money (ie peeling, sanding, resurfacing). The walls are covered with a thin wallpaper like sheet over the wood. I tried using BIN primer by Zisser in the bathroom, and that paint has peeled and chipped. it chipped after just a few months. is there a primer i can use that will not let the paint chip off? We are literally going crazy over this problem, we would just like our home to look like a home finally and not a "trailer". I appreciate any and all answers.....thanks

You could use sizing paper

One trick you could try would be to cover over the walls with something called Sizing paper (it's just like wallpaper but it's flat and when you put it up it makes the walls look like they are made of wall board or drywall). You will need to put it up like regular wallpaper with paste and all and you might even want to texturize it with an orange peel look or you might just want to go with the flat wall look. Hope this helps!
