Sewage in basement

I had a large section of the sewer pipe to the street replaced about 3 years ago (lawn dug up, etc.) and now I'm having sewage back up into the basement again. It's different this time because it isn't coming up the floor drain in the laundry area, which is the lowest point. It is coming up the basement toilet. There is a shower in the basement that is not getting fowled. This doesn't make sense. We don't use this bathroom at all since we're remodeling the whole house, doing the work ourselves and we aren't to that area yet. If anyone has any insight, I would sure appreciate it.
