hot water heaters

Until last week, the kids could take a nice hot bath in the tub WHILE I took a shower at the same time and at the end of my shower the hot water would just start running out. However, in the past week I can't even get the tub filled half way before the water starts turning cold...why is this? Thanks everyone for helping me solve this mystery.

We had a similar problem a few years ago. We though we would have to replace the whole water heater, but luckily we started small. We changed the heating element for about $25 and that fixed everything. It only took a screw driver to replace the heating element. We the heating element at either Home Depot or Lowe's. Good luck!
