refinish wood flooring

My home was built it the late 50's early 60's and it seems that my entire house was rigged in some way or another. Because my husband is not a motivated or inclined person...I try to do the best I can with very little to work with. I could really use some help. We've pulled up the carpeting in our house to reveal the original wood floor. I'd like to keep it and I know that it needs to be refinished if I want to keep it. this floor has some damage (water?/pet stains, scratches, ect), and it's coming up in one small area and it's faded worse in someplaces than in others. will you please show a step by step video of how to refinish it, and the least expensive way to do it. Thank you,

Rosa - I can empathize with you. I have just aquired a 14 month old boxer/lab who is NOT house broken. I put down the piddle pads on top of the rug I have in the lvingroom, and she seemed to be doing a pretty good job of hitting the target so to speak....or so I thought. I has noticed that the rug was starting to smell pretty badly. Come to find out she wasn't on the mark as often as I thought. Since the rug is/was a dark blue I couldn't see were she had piddled on it. The wet going through to the hardwood floor underneath - YIKKES! What a mess. The rug is now sitting in the driveway and I'm in a bit of a panic about what to do....I rent! I also have a limited income, so I too need some advice as how best to fix this problem. The wood has not yet rotted, but it is badly stained in several areas. Yes, I know, it is now time to make an investment in a crate.

Rosa- I had exactly the same floors. I bought "Rejuvinate" at Home Depot and it was like some kind of miracle. It was only $17.00. You should try it before you refinsh your floors. It got rid of all my scratches and discolorations. My floors are really beautiful now. Good luck. Sharon
