arch window treatment

Hi! My husband and I are building yet another huge house. We are occupying until it sells. I LOVE the 6' arched window at the top of our 2-story entry/stairway, BUT, I like different! Has anyone come up with an attractive treatment of the arch in arched windows OTHER THAN the paper "fans" or ignoring the arch? I've "thought" of several, but none seem particularly "fitting." Any takers? Thanks! redcan

Cris "Jane" Willig Hi I'm Cris and I have owned a window treatment business for over 11 years. I just finshed interor design school so feel I can help. First what do you want from your window treatment. Do you want to accentuate the window, do you want privacy, do you need both? Arch windows are beautiful and costly. A significant point of a window treatment is to make the window look better and more magnifcant then it already is. In the case of an arch I like to bring out the beauty of the arch. I have uploaded three 2 secpnd sketches. Not knowing your style I can't pin down what you need but maybe this will get you started. I like to use unusual hardware to hang my window treatment from. Beautiful cabinet knobs, antique door knobs, tree limbs and etc. This can give the window a one of a kind look. Good Luck! Cris

Thanks, Cris! I especially like the one on the bottom (right). Some really nice hardware would really set it off, too!
