Painting wood bedroom furniture


I have some Santa Fe style wood bedroom furniture does anyone know what kind of stain is on this furnture. It looks like an oil based stain and I use lemon oil to clean it. My issue that I want to paint in white. How should I go about it and is it possible

Clean off the wood with dishwashing soap & water. Rinse with white vinagar. Get high gloss / flat metal paint ( called " Tremclad" in Canada.) I used "Recreational White, which is really shabby chic cream.I ike it better than white. Use 2 coats, letting dry for overnight between each. Shalom ! Coline
