Removing sticky residue

I just read your suggestions on removing that icky stuff, however, I have one that works better. I was trying to remove tape residue from my boss' leather chair. After trying everything else in the office, I grabbed the can of Endust. I'm not sure if I'd use this product on my furniture because it actually dissolved the goo. Spray it on, let it work for a minute or two. I use a net or terry towel (depending on the surface) to "agitate" it. So far, it's worked on everything I've tried, and the Endust won't harm most surfaces.

I too, read your article on removing sticky residue. I have used this method for years. I don't recall where I learned about it but it has always worked for me. It is something most homes have on hand and that is WD-40, believe it or not. It has never discolored or ruined anything I have used it on but I would test it in any case. Just spray on and let it sit for a bit and wipe off. Depending on how much sticky stuff there is, more applications may need to be applied. I also have heard that baby oil does the same job.

I have read your article, as well, and my family also has a "secret" weapon against sticky residue....mayo! As long as the object won't be hurt by oils, then mayo is your best, and easiest solution (kid friendly, too). We often use mayo to remove price tags, and stickers that come on things like glass, and plastic, it only takes a small glob, and let it sit for several minutes, then just wipe off! And for those of you who have EEG's done, and are left with a head ful of sticky goop, peanut butter is your best friend!

Try Avon's Skin-So-Soft oil: place over the label/gooey area a paper towel that is the same size as the label and/or gooey area, then add Skin-so-Soft -- just enough to moisten the paper towel; let the Skin-So-Soft oil soak into the label and/or gooey area for a while (you be the judge of how long -- just test it once in a while); I usually let mine soak in overnight, and the next day, the label and goo pretty much just slide off! No labor and no stinky chemicals! P.S. If the label has a plastic type coating, that coating needs to be peeled off first to enable the Skin-So-Soft to get through the paper and goo.
