Garbage Disposal Problems

I'm a first time homeowner of a week and a half. I can't use my garbage disposal, because it leaks water onto the floor. The previous owners wrapped a pipe leading to the disposal with duct tape (I mean, seriously?), and I'm pretty sure that's where the leak is coming from. The floor of the cabinet is also looking a little funky. Should I replace it, and how do I do that? Any suggestions on fixing the leak? I kinda want to use the disposal.

Fixing Your Disposal

It sounds like there is a faulty gasket or seal to blame. When you go to fix your disposal TURN THE POWER OFF first. You'll have to take the disposal apart and either replace or re-seal the part that is leaking. If it looks beyong repair, you can easily install a new one. http://www.bejane.com/tutorial_installing_garbage_disposal The floor may look funky because water has been dripping on it for a long time.
