selecting waterproofing products for concrete walls.

I need help selecting a product to put on my basement walls to waterproof them. I have some major issues with water in my basement. There are loads of products out there that say they are the best. How do I know which is better? Is there any site that rates products?

I second this request. I see you can fill small cracks with "caulk", but it is never specified what type of caulk you can use. I have found on-line injectable products, but I want to buy something locally in case I have questions. Does anyone know of a basement repair product I can buy at my local chain home repair store? Thanks

Seal your basement walls against moisture - and radon!

Unfortunately living in California, we don't have the luxury of having basements for the most part, but my brother lives in Michigan and does. He said that the best concrete sealant is a silicate-based penetrating sealer which penetrates deep into the pores of the concrete and reacts with the materials to expand and harden creating a bond which seals the concrete permanently.

As for which type he used, he said he used something called "RadonSeal" which is a penetrating sealer. You can find information about it at radonseal.com - they say that it even seals against radon gas. Interesting. Plus, when I went to their site they have foundation crack repair kits that give you the same tools the pros use. Good luck. Wish I had a basement!

Make sure you use VERTICAL crack repair kits

When buying concrete crack repair products, make sure you get a product that is intended to be used for vertical surfaces if it is on a wall. If you are repairing a crack in a patio or driveway make sure the repair products are for horizontal surfaces.
