Ugly speaker wires

I love to watch movies on my big screen TV in my living room using a surround sound system. Unfortunately, having surround sound means that I have to have speaker wire running from my amplifier at the front of the room all the way around the edge of the room to the rear speakers. Because one wall of my living room is essentially open to the dining room, I've had to run the speaker wire up and over the opening in order to avoid a tripping hazard. Of course, this wire is unsightly and I hate it (but I really love having surround sound). Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do, short of covering my beautiful floors with area rugs, or drilling holes in the floor and running the speaker wire underneath the house?

One suggestion that I have is cord covers - they manage the wire, come in various colors and lengths and can be cut to fit.

Wireless Speakers...

The easiest way to deal with ugly speaker wires is to get wireless speakers. All you have to do is put in a battery and hang them wherever you want them. For once you won't have to worry how to hide those cords!

Thanks, Heidi! I was hoping not to have to buy a whole new surround sound system that comes with wireless speakers, since I paid several hundred dollars for it. I was hoping that there was a solution to convert my existing rear speakers to wireless. I went to RadioShack and it turns out that they've discontinued their product that does just that. However, I was able to find a Kenwood product (also discontinued) at Shoptronics.com and it works! No more ugly speaker wires!!!
