It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it. What's yours?

We all hate those dirty little jobs around the house. You know the ones, cleaning the gutters, scrubbing the scum out of the grout, cleaning off the mini-blinds... What Spring cleaning project are you most avoiding? And if anyone has any tips on how to make it more 'pleasant' - please, we're all ears! Post it here.

I have put off replacing the old clay sewer pipes in the front garden as tree roots have broken through it and it blocks up every so often. Great fun to clear! (BLURGH!) I know I'm gonna have to replace it this summer and I'm really not looking forward to it. Yuck! Talk about a dirty job!

You'll be much happier if you replace the clay pipes with ABS pipes. That will keep the roots from coming through again. Use nitrile gloves to keep the black gunk from the clay pipes off of your hands. I've done this and agree that it is definitely a dirt job. Don't worry about saving the old pipe. If you have access to a jackhammer or trencher to dig the trench, feel free to use it. Copper sulfate can be used to slow the invasion of roots back into any leech field.
