I have a circuit breaker box in my dining room. Need to cover up the ugly metal door. Any suggestions?

I covered mine with wall paper. Cover the outside of the box and then open the door and cover it. Then I put shelves on that wall. The shelves slide out, so all you have to do is remove one shelf and you can get to the breakers. I will send pictures. Unless you look very hard you can't tell there is a circuit breaker behind the shelves. I need to replace the wall paper. I have so many holes where I have hung and rehung so many things. But I think I finally got it right. Kathy

Thanks, hadn't thought of

Thanks, hadn't thought of that. That is cheaper than someone building a cabinet over it that opens. I need something to move in case of fire. The shelves would do that.

You could build two frames that would fit around the box, Mount one around the box and the other where you would mount a picture to go with it. Then you just hang a couple of pictures over them. It would probably be easier to move in an emergency than a shelf.

Make or buy a shadow box

Make or buy a shadow box frame large enough to surround the electrical box. Instead of using it to add dimentional items in take off the back, place a print or photo against the glass adding a backing to hold it in place. Then leaving the back open hang it over the electrical box with claw hanger and nails. If you need in the electrical box all you have to do it take off the shadow box and there it is.

Ugly circuit breaker box

Mine is recessed into the wall in the middle of my kitchen - big ugly metal door. I simply hung a big framed poster over it and made it the focal point of my kitchen decor.

Mine is in my laundry room, with no metal door and it is old (1958!). I would like to cover it, I do not know with what. It is close to the back door. I am getting wall cabinets to match my kitchen, I thought I could get them to cover it. I think it will be too close to the back door though. Is it possible, anyone know, to make a small wood door over it? Or must it be metal? If I could hang some artwork over it, does anyone have any suggestions? I am stumped, for ideas because it is a laundry room! Help, it is really ugly! Thanks for any suggestions!
