I like to make up a basket of sample-size bath treatments, shampoo, extra toothbrush and paste, hand lotion, etc. in case guests forget toiletries or just want to try to face mask or bubble bath. The bedroom basket has a plug-in nightlight, some magazines, and a sleep mask. As a special welcome, I like to put a vase of fresh flowers in the bedroom and a mint on the pillow, just like a cozy B&B. I love to have people visit, and I want let them know how welcome they are.

When girlfriends come to visit, I know they're looking for a tranquil getaway, as much as catching up with each other. When my guest turns down the covers, she finds a welcome card and a journal ~ in hopes she'll find hours of relaxation that inspire reflection.
My Guest bedroom is one of my creative outlets. Friends are welcomed into Monet's Garden - - I woodburned and painted the furniture ~ the chest has images of the waterlily garden and the headboard has flowers growing along the edge of the pond. Paintings of weeping willow branches hang from the ceiling on three walls, giving a very cozy, caressing feel. Prints of Monet's work finish the room. It was great fun to do, and I love to hear a friend's smiling sigh when she first walks into 'her' room.
When they leave... bkdunlap76 writes: Sun, 10/22/2006 - 6:19pm
I attended a regional church rally this weekend. When it was over, there were coolers full of cold bottled water and various soft drinks for the guests to load up on for the car trip home - and also baskets of granola bars and crackers and other snacks. We were instructed to take as much as we wanted for the trip home and I thought that was a really nice send-off!!
Also - My parents are living with us right now while their house is being remodeled. My husband moved a big TV into their guest room, and a DVD player and VCR. I make sure they have plenty of fresh towels and exrta TP in the guest bathroom, and lotion and kleenex too!
