It's all in the arrangement

Just about anything can become wall art. Really! It's all in how you put it together. I saw this really cool piece at a gallery a while back and loved it, but of course, I couldn't afford it. So I figured I'd give it a try. It was really a matter of taking coat hangers, colored plastic coated metal ones and cutting the pieces and twisting them together with some smaller wire. I did this for a while, made loops and twists and shapes and made it dimensional - stood out from the wall. When I was all done, I hung it on the wall and put a light on it and now not only is it wall art in and of iteself, but the shadow from the light gives it a whole other dimension. Very cool! What types of things have you done?

I agree that just about anything can become wall art! Like many average Janes, I have few framed prints adorning my walls. But the pieces I treasure most are ones made from favorite objects. I live in Wisconsin, where winters are long, but the framed pressed flowers on my office wall remind me that spring is just a memory away. On another wall I have pretty wrapping of all different patterns, but coordinating colors, in a range of frame sizes (super cheap if you use scrap pieces leftover from gifts). My bathroom is girly and beachy, so one wall has a vintage swimsuit hanging up and the other wall has cigar boxes on which are postcards of Bettie Page decoupaged (I always get compliments on those!). Just hang what makes you happy!
