A vanity table

I found a small vanity, for free, I took 220 grit sandpaper and roughed it up all over, then wiped it down I put black paint on it and I noticed some spots look glossy others look matte, I reapplied to matte areas and it still looks weird, What can I do to even out this look ? I dont care if its matte or glossy, Oh I did use spray paint on it, industrial strength, I have little ones who are rough lol.. Please Help !!!! Sabrina

Did the vanity have stain to begin with? I'm wondering if that was the problem. Two options -- prime the whole thing and then paint over it or use paint remover to get it down to bare wood and start over. Try regular paint or stain instead of the spray paint. Here's an article about repainting kitchen cabinets that has some good advice for your situation. Good luck! http://www.selfhelpandmore.com/building/cabinets-countertops/repainting-kitchen-cabinets.php
