ventless range hood

Okay -- we just got an addition and some remodeling. It required hardwired smoke detectors. One is across from the stove on the other side of a wide opening but it still goes off when I cook! We have an exhaust fan in our wall near the stove but we're wondering if also installing a ductless range hood would help if we then used both at the same time (for space reasons a vented hood is not an option). I thought if the exhaust fan vented but then we also had a range hood that could at least filter smoke it might help eliminate the alarm from tripping...is that right or no? Thanks! Melissa
