Hi Heidi,
Great to hear from you. I'm so glad your mom enjoys Curves.(I love her) I tell people not to think of it as exercise. Think of it a 30 min. for your health. I always try to make it fun. We play lots of games.
Actually, I am in the middle of several home improvement projects. I will do before and after pictures. One is Stenciling my kitchen ceiling to look old almost like a tin ceiling. I have this machine that I use to cut custom die cuts for scrapbooking, That also works awesome for custom stencils. I will send pictures when I'm done.
I do have a question? I would like to find a stripper for cabinets that is not so harsh smelling. Could you suggest one? I will be stripping my bathroom cabinets shortly. Never understand why someone would paint over beautiful wood cabinets.
Best regards,
Holly Blomberg
The palm sander is your friend... Heidi writes: Tue, 10/16/2007 - 1:46pm
Holly,
I have seen those commercials on television for that paint stripper that changes color when it's done and that's supposedly not very toxic smelling though I have only seen it at smaller home improvement stores like Dixie Line in San Diego. I've never tried it but I've heard it works well. As for me, I honestly bring out the old palm sander and typically sand off any paint because even when I've used the strippers there is typically still paint left in the grain which makes it almost impossible to stain until it's gone. The other option you have, of course, is to do a faux finish that causes the cabinets to look like dark wood. We did this type of thing on many of the homes we worked on for MSN. A really good example was the kitchen in which we painted over white washed cabinets with a darker red/mahogany and then ragged on a dark black which caused it to look more like grain. Hope these are helpful, Hugs 'n hammers, Heidi |
