Help! I need advice!!

I need help. My husband and I have lived in our home now for 2 1/2yrs. I absolutely hate my living room - it has dark green carpet, dingy white walls, and it is small. We finally have the money to remodel and i am so not into all that interior decorating stuff. I have a terrible sense for that stuff. I need help, i dunno if you buy your furniture first or paint your walls to see what color to go with, i have no idea what to have as decor. And if we do our living room we are gonna do our dinning area also i have nasty brown paneling in it and stucco walls...AAAHHHHH what do i do to make the two rooms look bigger thaey are both sooooo small?? Someone give me some ideas or advice. =-/

1. find out whats under the carpet. we found red oak under ours. 2. try some roman shades in a light color, how many windows have you? 3. if you love your furniture, boost it up with some color. go to surefit.net and find some stuff to fall in love with 4. pick a neutral lighter color to visually expand everything. just my opinion, your mileage may vary Rhonda H. Pull up the carpet!

I absolutely agree-take up the carpet! If you have concrete, consider acid staining it. It is very popular right now, easy (and inexpensive) to do-it-yourself and it can help make the room look bigger as well. Check out our products and pictures at www.DCsurfaces.com.

After that, I'm not good at the rest of the designing stuff. Most of the rooms in our house are small. I do really like to use mirrors on the walls opposite windows. It helps catch the light, brighten the room and give the illusion it's bigger than in is.
