old formica


Can old formica be resurfaced with polyurathane or some other sealer? What I have is faded and water marked.

It can be painted...

You can paint over old formica just so long as you rough up the surface a bit with fine sand paper and then prime it with the proper primer. If you are looking to redo your cabinets, we actually have an article you can check out. Just click on the link below:

If you are looking to do this to a countertop, just expect the paint to scratch and peel easily. It wouldn't be my first choice.
