New Energy Efficient Product

I'm not sure if this is the correct topic that i should discussing this in but here we go, My husband works for Springfield Precision Instruments, here in NJ and they have just created what i think will be the hottest item of the year. This product is design to save the an average person up to 33% of their heating and or cooling bills. From what i was told, the product is called the "Vent Miser". What it is is a programmable register vent that opens and closes at whatever times you set. i know that people say that they can do this manually but how many people do you know go around, room to room, opening and closing these vents. This is the perfect item that people who stay home.. the example that he had mention to me is; you have a 4 bedroom home, you work from home, and you have two children. If you own several of these vents you can program them to close 5 minutes after your kids leave, stopping either the heat or cool air from going into those rooms and going to the rooms that you have the vents opened, not wasting heating or cooling on those rooms not being used. Also by doing this, the air (warm or cool) is force to the room where the thermostat is, making it reach the temperature you set faster. I think that this is an excellent product. You can say that now they have multi zone thermostats. True but they won't help you if there are more then one room per zone. Hot or cold air will travel to those rooms that have open vents, whether your using them or not unless you close the vents to the used rooms. I think this a great item for anyone that has register vents in the house. If there are still questions about the excellence of this product, reply to this and I will have my husband email more detail information.. J Kowalowicz

It sounds like a great product, just like thermostats have been digitized and control home temperates through out the day and night to save energy im sure the vent system will help as well. Anything to automate climate control in the home is good since we really don't remember to open/close windows, vents, and adjust the temp some times. All this plus installing CFL's and double glazing older windows to keep drafts out can really help save energy and money.
