Dripping showerhead...

Dear Jane,

My shower head is leaking. It's not a lot, but it's enough to be annoying. I've tried to tighten it at the head thinking that might help, but it still leaks. It's a new showerhead, so I'd hate to have to replace it already. Is there any way to prevent this? Help!

Ronnie

Dear Ronnie,

It sounds like you are at your wits end with your shower head so let's see what we can do to fix this.

If we understood you right, your shower head is leaking from where it attaches to the water pipe. This is a very easy fix. You said this is a new showerhead, so it's possible that when it was installed, it was simply placed on the pipe without anything like plumber's tape to "fill the screw threads." You can check this by unscrewing the shower head and checking the threads. If they're bare, then you'll want to add a piece of plumber's tape. The addition of the plumber's tape is a little trick to create a more secure/tight fit around fittings where water can otherwise seep through. Just make sure you only apply enough tape to go around one to two times. Any more and you might not be able to get the showerhead back on. Once done, reinstall your shower head making sure you tighten it with your adjustable wrench.

Voila, no more leak!

We hope this helps. Let us know how it turns out.

If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us at any time. We're here for you!

We hope this helps!

Hugs 'n hammers,

Jane

My faucet in the bathroom sink has gone from a drip to small stream running. How do I fix this.
