Tips for a Great Guest Room?

Holidays--and houseguests--are just around the corner. We're looking for tips on making our travel-weary guests feel welcome. Here's one of our favorites: Buy some travel size toiletries (shampoo, lotion, shaving cream, e.g.) and place them in a small tray in the guest bathroom. It'll give your guests that hotel touch--and save them a trip to the store if they forgot anything. What are your ideas?

Hi - I frequently have guests at my place in Hollywood (I *love* having company!). Here are a few things I've done, or plan to do... 1. Have a luggage rack for them to set their suitcase on. They're available at Bed Bath & Beyond for as little as $25. 2. Have some type of music system in the room. I have a Bose Wave radio that they can use for an alarm clock and it also has a mini-jack input, which I keep a cable attached to so my guests can plug in their MP3 player or laptop to listen to their own music. 3. Prior to their arrival ask what they like to eat for breakfast, or munch on as a snack. When they arrive they'll already have some staples in the house. This is especially useful when children are visiting. 4. Put bottled water on the nightstand in the guest room for your visitors each evening. 5. Buy a couple of robes for guests to use. 6. Keep an assortment of pillows for the guest room (I have foam and down, which tends to keep everyone happy). 7. Buy a travel guide for your city and keep it in the guest room for them to peruse to find things to do on their own and also to help them figure out what they want you to show them! *whew* that's all I've got for now.
