It's actually quite a common problem. Your cabinet base is made of plywood and when the ply has been in contact with water for a while, it will warp and bend - in your case, divit. You have a few options:
1. Cut a piece of 1/4" plywood to size (same as current base), insert and either glue down or nail down. Then just put a piece of small trim molding to cover the front edge. 2. Use peel and stick vinyl floor tiles for easy wipability (is that a word?!) 3. Use shelf paper, however with this option, you'll still have the divit in your cabinet base. However, you'll consistently run into this problem until you fix the cause. So figure out where your sink is leaking and repair it. Remember, plumber's putty is your friend! Good luck! Thanks to all who replied. Glad to have some empathy out there. I just finished the repair last night--well, at 1AM. I went to Home Depot and consulted with a couple of professionals there. I bought some vinyl filler and slowly built up the 'dent' around the drain pipe. Then, I sanded and made the floor of the cupboard level. Bought a Formica type of laminate and contact-glued it (after making a very precise template and scoring the vinyl-not as easy as it sounds)to the bottom of the cabinet. I then used a perimiter caulk for laminate surfaces. It worked! It matches the laminate walls and looks wonderful. I want an award.
The floor of the cabinet was not plywood but a manufactured material. I did not choose to have the floor routed out and replaced with plywood, which has problems of its own.
Of course, the very first thing I did was to have the plumbing problem fixed. Why does sink plumbing cause so many problems?
