Backyard Wedding

Has anyone out there thrown a wedding in their home/backyard? I am thinking about doing it and wondering about costs, logistics, etc. Thx

We got married at our house..I would definately recommend it. You save a lot of money on the venue, but everything else is the same price, pretty much. One great tip we forgot--hire a valet service to take care of the cars. Our guests were winded by the time they came through the door!

Make Sure You Get A Tent!

You should definitely get a tent that has removable walls just in case you have a shift in the weather. You should also research places where you can rent what's known as a "barn heater" in case you need to get one last minute once the weather report comes in. Don't forget lighting especially in the tent - a lot of people just assume there will be enough day light, but usually it's a bit darker than they expect.

Another thing to consider is if you are going to have dancing arrange to have a 'dance floor' rented or made for your guests. Nothing is worse than trying to dance and have your heels sink into the ground. Also it will take a while for your lawn to recover from all off the traffic. Make sure you have someone to care for it for a week or two while you are on your honeymoon.
