Uneven wall...

I rencently moved into a new home and decided to remove the hideous wall paper in the kitchen. What I found underneath was a disaster. I have OLD trailer house paneling, newer trailer house drywall boards all butted together unevenly. I've decided to use joint compound to fill in the cracks and try to create more even look. Will this work?

Well, it might for awhile, but I think long term you're going to want to put up new drywall. One short term fix is to see how smooth you can get it with joint compound and if it's not perfect, do a faux painting on top to hide the unevenness! Good luck!
