floor leaks by tub when shower is on.

THe floor leaks where the wall meets the bathtub when shower is on. Could this be because it needs to be recaulked?

That's a great place to start...

What you'll need to do is remove the old caulk that's in there now (pick up a 5-in-1 tool from the paint section of any home improvement store to do this easiest) and then seal it with a caulk that is made for bathrooms (typically they are not only water resistant but also mold resistant). Then, using a caulk gun, apply it.

A great Jane tip is to use a pair of gloves when applying the caulk because it tends to get everywhere and is not the easiest thing to get off your hands. And also have a glass of water near by so that you can dip your finger into the water and spread the caulk with your wet finger to make it flush to the corner and smooth. Just make sure that you have plently of paper towels or an old rag handy.

Hope this helps and happy Thanksgiving!

Hugs 'n hammers,

Heidi

When applying the caulking dip your fingers in dishsoap. This stops the caulking from sticking to your fingers. I do this trick all the time and it hasn't affected the chaulking whatsoever.
