window treatments for sun room

We are redoing our family room and patio into a large family room with floor to ceiling windows, glass doors etc and laminate wood floors and ceiling fan. This room will have a pool table that doubles as a dining table, a piano, a fireplace, and above it a screen for a projector tv. So it will be like a game, music and movie room for a family with 3 school age kids. It looks out on our backyard and it will have special low e glass that blocks all heat as this is in AZ. What I need is a window treatment I can use to block the light when we want to watch movies without being there all the time and blocking the view of our great new windows. I was thinking of bamboo, canvas or woven wood roller blinds that can be rolled up 90% of the time and put down to block light when its movie time. Any one know any inexpensive sources for this, or how I could do ones myself? Any other suggestions? Thank you!

Blackout Shades may be the Best Option

If you're planning on watching movies in this room and glare is a definite possibility, I would recommend installing blackout shades. These are a little more expensive than regular shades, but the benefit of never dealing with glare is more than worth it in a tv room. Another great benefit of installing shades on large windows that you want to have open most of the time is that shades compress very well (as compared to blinds) so when they are raised you won't notice them as much. There is a recent article on BlindFinder detailing Blackout Shades that I recommend you check out. If you're on a budget you can get great light blockage with traditional vinyl roller shades... they just don't look quite as nice and are a little more difficult to raise and lower. That's my two cents anyway. Good luck!

Look for sales

It's jcpenney.com semi-annual sale and I got nice wooden roman blinds for a very reasonable price last year. they also have sliding wooden panels that I think would look awesome on floor to ceiling windows. They are 4 tall panels per window and you can slide them back and forth and stack them as you want to block the sun.
