Topic: conrete floor
yes, it can be done! emmapeel writes: Sun, 07/29/2007 - 4:01pm
you can absolutely paint a concrete floor, and there is paint specially made for concrete. creating a pattern like marble is not difficult, it will just take you some time. It's all a matter of layering the paint and then wiping the top coat off in a certain way.
I suggest you check out Amazon.com for HOW TO books about paint. You are sure to find one that will give you specific directions for the look you want. Check out Debbie Travers, she does a lot of faux painting techniques.
My one suggestions is to make sure you apply a polyurethane top coat once you are done in order to protect your floor. I did my kitchen floor in painted concrete with a top coat of polyurethane and it still looks great after 5 years.
You will be amazed at how great a difference this is going to make in your house.
good luck!

I will check out Debbie Travers. What a savings that will be if I can pull this off!
Concrete Acid Staining ~ www.DCsurfaces.com Fidget1479 writes: Mon, 07/30/2007 - 12:39pm
I think acid staining is the better way to go. It is very easy and inexpensive. The company I work for developed a great DIY concrete acid stain overlay product the cuts out almost all the prep time and looks phenomenal when finished. It only take about 2-3 days (each of the 4 steps takes about 30-45 minutes) and is about $1/sq. ft. It comes with step-by-step, illustrated instructions and we are available for phone or e-mail assistance if needed.

Wow, those look great! Have you actually seen a floor done? Does it come out as nice as the pictures? Thanks I'll check that out!
Thanks Fidget1479 writes: Tue, 07/31/2007 - 5:29am
It actually comes out nicer than the pictures. The camera doesn't pick up all the depth and color. Our showroom that I work in has acid stain on the floor and I just love it.
The only problems that ever occur is when the customer doesn't follow the directions and decides to do it their own way. As long as you follow the directions (which are very easy to do and understand) it turns out beautifully. ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ DIYers, check out www.DCsurfaces.com!
