spray painting old drawer pulls and hinges

Does any one have suggestions for me? I need to save money on a remodel and reuse my cabinet pulls and hinges, but I am switching to a brushed nickle faucet. Of course no one has come out with the faux finish yet (at least not that I can find in my little town). Do any of you Be Janes have any creative thoughts for me? I'd appreciate any help. Be Janet

You can get an inexpensive brushed nickel set of knobs at Home Depot for about $15. If that's not in your budget, gloss black spray paint would work great. Take the pulls and hinges off your cabinets and lay them out on newspaper in the garage(or other ventilated area). Lightly spray them from all sides, wait for the paint to dry and then respray. Two light coats work better than one heavy coat - reduces drippage.

I do love the gloss black look. In fact one of my friend's has done it before, but I'm really going to need to stick with the nickle on this one. I am actually living in a travel trailer at the moment at we are talking dozens and dozens of pulls, knobs and hinges!! Great for storage, but tough for remodels!! I just can't figure how to recreate the look. Thanks for your suggestion!
