My 16 yr old son wanted his room to look like a Welsh castle. I appliquéd a Welsh Flag to his black suede bedspread and then faux painted his room to look like black granite blocks. Base coat of medium grey, then used a laser level an to mask out the grout lines in a staggered block pattern. I had to use a safety razor to cut the low adhesive masking tape roll in half to make the grout lines look skinny enough. Then I sponged on a coat of white glaze (4:1 glaze to paint) followed by black glaze (5:1 glaze to paint ratio)...let it dry, gently peel off the masking tape and viola!! It turned out amazing and my son takes great pride in the fact that he helped (not easy to get thanks from a 16 yr old!) His twin brothers room is my next project- it will look like an hawks nest when I get thru with it- because his name in Welsh means "White Hawk"
