Recently, I purchased a Biscuit Joiner and it is currently my favorite tool. It is good for joining two pieces of wood together when you don't want to have nail heads showing and it provides extra strength. Example: a friend had an old cutting board that fell apart along the joint lines. I put it back together for her with biscuits and water proof wood glue. Biscuits are available in different sizes and the joiner has a setting for each size of biscuit. The tool is easy to use and cuts the biscuit slots in seconds.

Funniest story - I went into one of the 'home improvement' retailers and went into the tool corral asking for the #10 biscuits, the guy stood there and stared at me. I think he thought I was looking for biscuits to eat like I should be in a grocery store. After getting a bit disgusted with the lack of help, I looked around a bit further and found the cylinder full of biscuits. He was kind of watching me and then came up when I picked it up and asked ME what it was for. I told him all about a biscuit joiner and how these work and he looked really fascinated. Guess I’m just doing my unpaid job in the local HI store again!
