Meet the Founding Janes
Be Jane's Founding Janes, Heidi Baker and Eden Jarrin (formerly "Clark"), are dedicated to educating and leading women to have confidence in home improvement and themselves. Their personal journeys of empowerment inspired Eden and Heidi to create a community where women could share, learn, and encourage each other to do-it-ourselves. And that's when Be Jane was born!
About Heidi

As co-founder of Be Jane, Heidi has led development of Be Jane's media content, customer interaction, and product development. Now a new mom, Heidi is currently building Mommy Jane, a network on the Be Jane site that will focus on family-focused DIY tips.
Empowerment Moment:
Heidi's passion for do-it-yourself empowerment began when she bought her first home, a sad shack in desperate need of TLC. Determined to save money by challenging herself to become her own handyman and contractor, Heidi learned by doing, and later sold her fixer-upper as the most expensive house in the neighborhood. Referred to by friends as the "Jane of All Trades," Heidi now applies that slogan to any woman who isn't afraid to tackle a home improvement project on her own.
About Eden
- Place of birth: Vancouver, British Columbia
- Favorite tool: Anything with power!
- Favorite Projects: Seeing something expensive in a store, then building it from scratch herself (for a fraction of the cost)!
- Why she believes every woman is a Jane: "Women can achieve incredible things when they believe in themselves and their abilities. Sometimes all it takes is someone to believe in them and help them take that first step."
Eden joined with Be Jane co-founders in 2004 and has been instrumental in the development of the company's strategic relationships and web and media strategies.
Empowerment moment:
Eden's construction and design skills were tested when she purchased her first home – a four-bedroom, three-bath house in need of a renovation. In a few short months, she managed to turn her "shanty on the hill" into a "showplace on the mountain." Eden often lends her design and building talents to friends and family, adding in her flair for design and can-do attitude for any project thrown her way. Eden's skills include electrical, carpentry, tiling, dry walling, painting, sewing, upholstery, and a keen eye for interior design.
