As Be Jane’s Chief Jane (aka CEO and President), Suzanne Horton brings an impeccable blend of strategic experience to spearhead the #1 home site for women.  A former custom homebuilder with over 12 years in the digital media space and 20 years in the real estate industry, Suzanne has become a recognized veteran in both scopes of Be Jane’s expanded focus: the home industry and female empowerment.

Suzanne’s mission for Be Jane is simple: let’s help women embrace their own power to change their homes, improve their lives, and then encourage them to use that confidence to make a difference in the world.  In her own life, Suzanne has walked the walk.  Throughout her career, Suzanne has shattered glass ceilings and promoted female empowerment, working with both Fortune 500 companies and startup/growth firms in the television network, wireless, real estate, and financial services industries.  A profound priority for Suzanne has been her support of philanthropic organizations that advance female empowerment, and she has dedicated considerable attention to her role as an Advisor to actress Fran Drescher’s Cancer Schmancer Movement, which lobbies for improvements in female health legislation on Capital Hill.  An important part of Suzanne’s long-term vision for Be Jane is to create a community of women as confident in tackling world improvement as in home improvement.

Suzanne’s background has ideally prepared her for this challenge.  Very notably, she spearheaded a public and successful rapid crisis turnaround as the General Manager of Homebuilder.com, the nation’s leading website for new homes.  While at Homebuilder.com, she also partnered with the National Association of Homebuilders on a campaign that provided websites to more than 4,000 builders nationwide.

Prior to joining Homebuilder.com, Ms. Horton led the Internet investment team at American Express and devised the global strategy for executing key technology deals for a $32 million investment portfolio; she also managed the prioritization for the global implementation of $350 million in technology initiatives and won the Chairman’s Award for Quality.

Most recently, Suzanne served as President and CEO of Horton Associates, a leading-edge strategic consulting firm in the digital media, wireless and residential homebuilding industries.  Her expertise was recently recognized when she was invited as an honored guest speaker at London’s Royal Institute of British Architecture, as the American expert on how the Internet has impacted the residential home building industry in the U.S.

Suzanne is a graduate of the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University where she earned her MBA and studied abroad at the London Business School.

With her strength in both the business world and the non-profit sector, and with a lifelong focus on empowering women, Suzanne is perfectly suited to lead Be Jane to the next level of motivation and mobilization.   So get ready for a burst of new power and inspiration to enter your lives!
